Oman Deserts to Salalah

Day 1: Starting our adventure tour of Oman desert in the morning, we drive heading east south of Muscat through the Hajar Mountains and by the fishing villages of Dibab, Bamah and Fins. We will stop at the spectacular Bama Sinkhole to enjoy some swim in the crystal clear fresh water. From here we will start a steep off-road drive through Jabal Bani Jabir to the top of Salmah Plateau 2000m from the sea level. Visit the historical Beehive Tower Tombs of Al Jaylah, dating back to the Bronze Age (3000 years old). Continue to the townships of Ibra and Bidiyah, arriving at the Golden Sands of Wahiba Desert -in time- to watch the sunset across the dunes. Spend the night in a permanent desert camp.
Day 2: In the morning commence the journey, which will take you across the magnificent Wahiba Sands. Crossing Wahiba Desert from north to south, you will spend the next hours in a heightened state of exhilaration as you experience rolling sand dunes, varying from deep red to a rich honey color, stretching as far as the eye can see. The spectacular landscape of the Wahiba Sands is visually sensational and the experience of the crossing offers both excitement and a great sense of achievement. Arriving to the Arabian Sea at the fishing village of Qihayd, where the dunes meet with the ocean. Set our camp at Ras Al Ruways and enjoying the refreshing sea waters along with the background of Wahiba Sands Dunes.
Day 3: More adventure awaits you today as we head towards Muhut. We will stop at Hijj to buy some food and get some ice for our next camp site. From here continue to Ar Rumayliyah to start from here our crossing through Jiddat Al Harasis and Al Huqf area the drive through this flat desert will takes you through over 700 millions of geological time and over the oldest rocks in the area. This basement rocks covered with layers of rocks, each layer is younger than the one before. The evidence shows that ice sheets covered the area about 300 million years ago. At other times, it was under a shallow tropical sea and marine fossils can be seen in this desert. More information at: Geological Society of Oman – www.gso-oman.org
We will set our camp at Sayh Hayma for this night.
Day 4: In the morning after breakfast we will travel through this desert to Hayma and on the highway by Maqshin and Qatbit to Dowkah and enter the Desert once again. Driving through Umm Al Hayt sand dunes on the edge of Ar Rub al Khali Desert. Set our camp on the sand dunes.  - (Permanent desert camp is optional).
Day 5: Today after breakfast, we will continue our drive through the desert to Shisr the lost city of Ubar, called "the Atlantis of the Sands". Researchers speculate that the city may have been the earliest known shipping center for frankincense. From here we will travel south to Thumrayt and then to Wadi Dawkah to visit the Frankincense Nature Reserve. Then we will travel through the Mountains to our final destination the magnificent city of Salalah. Your accommodation while in Salalah will be in a comfortable hotel.  Relax on your first day in Salalah and then the next day we will visit the tourist attractions you are most interested in seeing. 
Day 6: Dhofar Region offers the visitors an enormous variety of attractions to see and to do around Salalah City. The natural beauty of the surrounding area is breath-taking. You will be amazed by the coastal plains and steep dramatic mountains reaching right to the edge of the Arabian Sea. Today we will explore the attractions east of Salalah including; Jabal Samhan, Tawi Atayr, the springs at Ain Darbat, the historical port of Samhurum (Khor Rori) which dates back to 100BC, the coastal town of Mirbat and Taqah. Then back to our hotel in Salalah.
Day 7: Today we will continue exploring more of Dhofar and visit west of Salalah including the Blow Holes at Maghseel beach and the white sand beach of Al Fazzayeh. There are also many touristic attractions in Salalah City including the ruins of Al Baleed, Land of Frankincense Museum, Al Hafa Souq and the Sultan Mosque. 
Drop at the Salalah Airport to catch your flight back to Muscat bringing with you a very real Oman experience.
